Jr. Rodriguez running back for the Rankin Red Devils

It is not very often that a journalist can say that they have privilege of watching a young boy grow into a talented high school athlete, it is with great enthusiasm that I introduce to you Jr. Rodriguez of the Rankin Red Devils.
I have always believed when it comes to sports it’s always a risk to place high expectations on something. It’s especially risky when you place those high expectations on yourself. For years Jr. Rodriguez did that, and the results are nothing short of amazing. Jr. is looking forward to continuing his exploits as one of the most exciting and talented running backs to ever carry the ball for the Rankin Red Devils.

JJSS: When and where did you begin playing football?
Jr. Rodriguez: I began playing football in Iraan, Texas.
JJSS: How long have you played in Rankin? Where before that?
Jr. Rodriguez: I have been playing for the Rankin Red Devils for almost three years. Before that I played football for the Iraan Braves.
JJSS: Was the transition difficult? Jr. Rodriguez:  In all honesty it was different going from 11 man to 6 man. There is a lot more running in 6 man.

JJSS: What is your position on the team? Jr. Rodriguez:  I'm the running back for the team.
JJSS: How do you train for the positions you play?  Jr. Rodriguez: Basically I do a bunch of running drills with a cutting drill. When I get home I run uphill to give my legs a harder workout, this gives me more strength for running.

JJSS: How much has your family contributed to your success? Jr. Rodriguez: They are making everything possible for me to succeed in athletics.

JJSS: What is your least favorite? Jr. Rodriguez: English
JJSS: Does involvement in sports help or hinder your academic pursuits? Jr. Rodriguez: Yes, being in athletics motivates me to do better in my academics.
